Polymers Plus Miniature Frames
Polymers Plus was formed in the early 1980s by Peter Stevens whose hobby was watercolour painting. After several years successfully painting large pictures he developed an interest in miniatures.
He found that local art shops and most other suppliers were largely ignorant, or at best disinterested in the requirements of miniaturists, and this prompted him to attempt to rectify the situation by establishing a small company that catered exclusively for miniature frames and artists needs.
It was decided that Peter's company, Polymers Plus which had been previously involved with the petro-chemical industry, should change direction, and since 1990 it has been solely occupied in supplying the needs of artists in miniature. From very small beginnings the company grew in both turnover and the range of products offered. This unfortunately resulted in the situation where there was no longer any time to paint miniatures but, that was compensated for, by the regular contact that he had with miniaturists worldwide, many of whom became personal friends.
In 2010 Peter Stevens retired but not wanting to let the miniature artists down approached Peter & Anne Hayton to take over Polymers Plus. Peter Hayton, himself a miniature artist and picture framer, and his wife Anne, who runs a gallery and picture framers, were delighted to take on the business and hope to bring longevity of supply to the miniature artists around the world. There hope is to also expand the range where possible and increase the art material products range currently offered on this site
The policy will continue to be that Polymers Plus should provide a service where the interests of the artist are paramount; where the quality and range of products should be as high and wide as possible and always under review; where value for money should always be the aim; where any request from an artist for a non-standard product should always be seriously considered and wherever practical be provided.
