Mammoth Ivory Frames

We are proud to offer a range of high quality hand made frames that are guaranteed to enhance any miniature portrait or silhouette. They are made in the traditional style that was introduced around the middle of the 18th century when ivory piano keys were used. Today specially selected precision cut segmments of mammoth ivory are glued to a dimensionally stable base, the outside edge of which, in some models, can be decorated with thin strips of simulated tortoiseshell or mother of pearl which, is then polished to a particularly attractive gloss finish.

These frames are available in portrait or landscape format, they are supplied with a polished gold finish bezel ofeither elliptical or rectangular shape. Model 3088 excepted. The outside shape of the frames can either be rectangular , elliptical ro octagonal. Convex glass is supplied as standard together with a number of card inserts of various thicknesses, which enables the artist to ensure that when assembled the back of the frame is flush. These are retained by flexible tabs and ivory coloured self adhesive material, which is supplied to give your work a professional presentation.
