Specially selected, cut and finished to give an excellent painting surface indistinguishable to all but specialists, from elephant ivory, without any legal or ethical constraints.

The modern base for Miniatures - dimensionally stable, chemically resistant , translucent, surface treated plastic sheet. The base material has been used for archival applications for 40 years without degradation. It has been colour matched to antique ivory. Sheet size approximately 8" x 6". Thickness 0.006"

SmoothCard

This is an adhesive faced lightweight (250 gsm) acid free card which can be used to provide a reflective backing to your picture whilst at the same time giving extra rigidity. The adhesive used is a permanent one therefore repositioning of the picture is not possible. Smoothcard is supplied in sheets approximately 8" x 6".

We endeavour to maintain a stock of these, which are available in two forms 'as aquired' or 'prepared'. Most keys are approximately 2" x 7/8" (50 x 22mm) with a radius on two corners. We can remove these which reduces the dimensions 1¾" x 7/8" (35 x 22mm).

Avon Smooth

A superior paper based painting surface exclusive to Polmers Plus specially selected for its smooth surface with limited absorption, attractive colour, heavy weight, ca 400gsm, acid free.

A paper based painting surfaces, frequently used for Miniatures, Silhouettes and Calligraphy.

Sheet size approximately 8" x 6" (203 x 152mm). Price 30p per sheet.

Opaque white porcelain blanks approximately 4 mm thick normally used in conjunction with paints that are fired after application, but can be used with acrylics, oils and watercolours. In all of these cases varnishing or lacquering is recommended. Painting on porcelain blanks can be framed as pictures or mounted and worn as jewellery. Mounts for brooches, earings, stick pins etc. are available for most of these blanks.

This is a completely new base upon which to paint miniatures. It is thin (0.025" or 0.6 mm except where indicated), absolutely flat, rigid, chemically inert, dimensionally stable, will withstand temperature and humidity fluctuations without any change, and is unlikely to be affected by ultra violet light and other ageing influences. It is slightly translucent, has a clean white colour and a superb matt surface on both sides which will accept all media. Watercolours, even staining colours can be easily lifted off, but this does not apply to pastels, pencils or some inks which could require the use of a gentle abrasive product like Flash cream or Cif. Being a thin rigid ceramic material it will break if mishandled also, it is not possible to cut it by conventional methods.
